Quality vs. Quantity

Think about this question for a moment-Is it easier to put more time into something or to improve the quality of something? In other words, is it easier to do more (work faster) vs. doing better?

Doing more is an investment of time but doing better is complicated. It takes learning, brainpower and trial and error. In fact, doing better can require an investment in time as well (quantity). Maybe it is time to slow down and assess the quality of the work that you are producing. If the quality of work is related to the things that are most important to you then the quantity isn't going to be as important.

Life Leadership or Life Lemming

Do you take charge of your life or do you just follow the crowd? Do you have a life plan or do you take life as it comes? Do you set goals or do you fly by the seat of your pants?

There probably isn't a right or wrong answer to any of the above questions ... until you complain. There is nothing worse than working with people who are unhappy with where they are at in the their life and career but are unwilling to do what it takes to change. They would prefer to just follow the same course of least resistance and grumble.

You live in a time of opportunity. Do you do those things that matter most to you or get caught up in the thick of thin things? You can choose to lead your life in the direction you choose or follow the current of the average. Choose to lead. Set goals. Chase your dreams. Be the ringmaster! It will make the difference.

Getting That First Laugh In Your Performance

Any comedian will tell you that getting that first laugh from an audience is critical. It establishes the mood for the performance and also positively connects the audience with the comedian. The longer the comedian goes without getting the laugh the more strained the event and the less spectacular the performance.

What about the items in your lineup today? What's the one or two things you simply must get done? How will delay on these items affect your ability to quickly connect to your purpose? Prolonging action on them could have disastrous results on getting what you want most-a standing ovation from others... and yourself.

Lasting Failure or Temporary Defeat?

Are your mistakes a lasting failure or a temporary defeat? When you attempt something and fall short, do you look at the situation as a chance to improve or an excuse to "throw the towel in" and get worse?

Looking positively at a temporary defeat will help you to improve, develop solutions and ultimately become stronger. You will experience setbacks in life. Successful people are those that recognize the failure, rise up from the defeat, reevaluate their performance and then do what it takes to change and win.

When you look at tough times as an opportunity to learn and grow then you will look back and see failures that lead to success instead of failures that lead to ... well ... failure.

Discipline, Discipline and Discipline

You have these dreams, goals, and tasks that are dancing around in your head that you want to get around to and accomplish. But there is so much "other stuff" to do. How do you get around to those things that are most important to you? In one word - discipline.

  • The discipline to write down and affix deadlines to your dreams, goals and tasks

  • The discipline to say "No" to the things that get in the way

  • The discipline to be focused and not get distracted

  • The discipline to work hard at something

Jim Rohn once said that Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Build your bridge, get things done and accomplish what matters most to you.
